- Today, i learned about my friend Alan. He's very interesting. He's from China. He's 19 years old. He likes to play computer games. He has been living in New York for two years. My Dream House
My dream house has to be located in a good area. This needs to have a beautiful garden to have a lot of parties. It doesn't have to be very big; however, it needs to be comfortable and unique. My dream house will have one living room, one kitchen, two bedrooms, and two bathrooms. My dream house will have a big television, big radio, and big closet. My dream house has to be peaceful. I want to decorate this house with many flowers because i love flowers and i think it will be a good idea to decorate it like that. My dream hose just has to be unique like me.

“Arthur” shows the relationship between Arthur and his partner Peter. For example, the author writes, “I’m glad to be working with Arthur.” This demonstrates that Peter is very happy sharing with his partner. They have a weird relationship because they share a lot of time together, for that they feel they have a married relationship, however they like to work together. Later, the author writes, “He never complains when I decide we need to carry a patient down…” This means that Arthur is not lazy and Peter doesn’t have complains about him. At the end, the author writes, “I hate going into nursing homes, but with Arthur it can be fun.” This means that they are a good partner because while they are working very hard they try to enjoy their day as much they can.
I choose this story “Arthur” because I think both of them are a good example of good relationship. Arthur and Peter are very smart and I would like to have a relationship like they have. Are you interested in finding a job? Well there are many courses that you can take to get a really good job. For me jobs are very good to help develop relationships between people. The jobs I’m interested in helping professions, creative and artistic jobs and, problem-solving jobs.
Helping professions is a profession that nurtures the growth of or addresses the problems of a person’s physical, psychotherapy, intellectual, emotional or spiritual well-being. These jobs included medicine, nursing, psychotherapy, psychological counseling, social work, education, life coaching, and ministry. According to “Careers in the Helping Professions”, there are a number of reasons people choose helping careers: some were inspired by those who have helped them along the way, while others simply have an innate desire to help. Whatever your story, you are in good company. This means that many people like to share and help others like me. My personal connection with this job is that I’m very friendly and helpful, for that I know that I will do a good job in this kind of career.
Creative and Artistic jobs are basically about how to learn artistic things. This is related with actors, social workers and, painters. Art and Creative careers often allow its professionals an exceptional amount of flexibility in their jobs. Artists and Creative professionals range in roles from painters to graphic designers to teachers. According to “Careers that are great for creative people”, some of the common job titles for Artists and Creative careers are art director, illustrator, commercial, artist, graphic designer, website designer, conceptual designer, interior decorator, textile designer, painter, photographer, musician and many others. This means that this kind of Creative and Artistic jobs has many branches that could be helpful to people who want to get focus in different areas, but relate with the exactly Creative and Artistic jobs. My personal connection with this job is that I like to paint because when I pained I looked the world in a different way as a peaceful world.
Problem-Solving Jobs consists of using generic methods in an orderly manner, for finding solutions to problems. Some of the problem-solving techniques developed and used in artificial intelligence, computer, science, engineering, mathematics, medicine etc. In other words Problem-Solving Jobs is about to find the solution of each problem of this branch. According to Wikipedia, problem-solving, industrial engineers help organizations figure out how they can make the best use of their energy, machines, and employees. For example, if a manufacturing company is not producing as many products as they need to be, they might hire an industrial engineer to help them identify the weak points in their processes and recommend areas for improvement. Doing this job well requires the ability to turn real world problems into mathematical equations, and it can be very rewarding for people who want to solve problems on the job. This means that this kind of solving problem jobs try to stop the problem’s computers, machines till the same factory.
In conclusion you should choose a career that you will be interested in if you study really hard, you will get the diploma.

Public Health’s Relation to Medicine and Dentistry
This presentation was about Public Health’s relation to Medicine and Dentistry. This presentation was on October 22, 2014 from 2:10 to 1:30 36. The presenter was Joseph Korevec. He was a friendly man who explained a lot of points about Public Health.
The presentation was located in Medical building room number 136. There was a nice group interested about the presentation and that made me feel comfortable. When I was at the presentation I saw two people, a woman who introduced the presentation and a man who presented the whole presentation. The presentation was in PowerPoint. The man talked very fast and this made me a little confused. However, I took a lot notes about it. For example some of the “ Quick Facts” were, established in 1922, 6 Department and 5 degree programs like MPH, MHA, MS, PhD, DrPH, 10 Dual degree programs etc. Some of Academic Department that he mentioned was, Biostatistics (BIS), Environmental Health Sciences (EHS), and Epidemiology (EPI) etc. Very important information that you have to keep in mind is the important days. For example, Merit, Need, and Mission bases aid, apply early (deadline date February 1), complete the Columbia Aid application.
The information that was new for me was about the degree because I did not know anything about it. I was surprised about the way that the presenter spoke because it was too fast. I’m not happy about this event because even though the presenter said a lot of information, he spoke very fast and I did not understand all the information. This information will help me in the future because now I know that Public Health has relationship with everything in our lives. For example, the presenter explained that one day a man asked him, how does Taco Bell relate to Public Health? And he answered, ooh well, “Public Health has a lot in common with Taco Bell because when you are selling your product to the consumers this food has to be clean because if you sell or if you have this space in bad treatment then you will have a big problem.”

Do you know what Burnout is? According to Wikipedia, “Burnout is a physical or mental collapse caused by overwork or stress.” When a person feels tired or exhausted, he/she is suffering from burnout about the job, school or home. Burnout is not caused solely by stressful work or too many responsibilities. Other factors contribute to burnout, including your lifestyle and certain personality traits. In other words, burnout could begin from different situations of lifestyle. You will learn from different sources about burnout and many solutions that can solve this big problem.
According to the online article “Preventing Burnout Signs, Symptoms, Causes, and Coping Strategies" by Melinda Smith, M.A., and Jeanne Segal Ph.D., burnout reduces your productivity and saps your energy. As the stress continues, you begin to lose the interest or motivation that led you takes on a certain role in the first place. Some reasons for burnout are: working too much, without enough time for relaxing and socializing, personality traits can contribute to burnout, pessimistic view of yourself and the world, the need to be in control, and reluctance to delegate to others. Some physical signs and symptoms of burnout are: feeling tired and drained most of the time, frequent headaches, back pain, muscle aches, change in appetite or sleep habits. According to this article, there are many ways to prevent burnout, such as, start a day with a relaxing ritual, adopt healthy eating, exercising and sleeping habits, take a dial break for technology, learn how to manage stress.
The book Rescue 471 by Peter Canning has many examples of burnout that Peter has on his job. Peter is an awesome man who is a paramedic and goes to different houses to save patient's lives. The chapter “Burnout” is basically about the worries that Peter has in this section. For example, the author writes, “It comes in waves. Sometimes it hovers like a fog, a haze. I try working through it.” This demonstrates that Peter is suffering from burnout, but he is trying so hard by himself to stop it. Another example is “I fear that if I book off once, then it will be easier to book off the next time.” This means that although Peter is so tired of his job, he finds the positive in this uncomfortable situation. He is very exhausted by his job but at the same time he keeps strong to avoid the obstacles that arise. Finally, the author writes, “Will I be a good teacher? Will I be someone to look up to...? Will I soar above the city or will I crash in flames? This shows that Peter wants to change his profession so that he is asking these questions by himself, and at the same time, he is asking if he will be successful in any new profession he chooses. At the end, he terminates burnout by changing his mind and thinking positivity. Finally he understood that his job is amazing and he continues his job as paramedic.
According to the article “Preventing Worker Burnout Can Boost The Bottom Line” by Rachel Martin, “Big corporations spend a lot of time trying to figure out how to motivate employees.” This means that employees are suffering from“Burnout”. For example at Aptify, Virginia software company employees are affecting of motivation and morale causing by no time off. Employer suggests vacation to fix this problem. Another example is at Wist Office Product in Phoenix. According to Noguchi, 70 employees rotate and shift their responsibilities with other employees. These shows that they feel tired of the job for that they need to switch to get time off. They use this strategy to don’t be bored and exhausted. Finally at Point B Consulting CEO Company the cause of burnout is that employees don’t travel. They don’t have a beautiful vacation as everyone imagine. Noguchi says,” But Pongon says he believes his company’s flexible schedule attracts better employees and keeps them for longer because they remain happier.” This demonstrates that happiness is a very important factor to prevent burnout.
Everyone can suffer from burnout. In my case I’m a victim from burnout. For example, I wake up at 6:00 am every single day, then I get ready to go to Clip program. I spend 5 hours a day. I go home to eat and sometime I start my homework before I go work because usually I get late into my house after work and I don’t have energy to do my homework. This is a big example from burnout because I feel exhausted for many homework and work at the same time. When I feel that way I just take time off to relax myself, and usually I can get it. Another example of my personal burnout is when my grandmother repeats the same again and again like a hundred time, it makes me tired and angry because my mind get full of stuff and I just feel an explosion in my mind. I try to help myself saying yes at everything she says, just to finish the conversation because you know sometimes they just think we are a robot that never get tired.
According to the online article “ Are You Burnout Bound?” by Karen Langley, “ It’s one thing to be busy. It’s another to be all stressed out.” This article give us different examples of burnout such as “feel exhausted because it’s after midnight and you know that in a few short hours you’ll have to drag your tired body out of bed.” This means that you are not ready to start the new day because you still very tired. Another example is “Do you often forget things or feel distracted. If so, you are suffering from burnout because you probably have a lot of stuff in your mind.
Burnout is a big problem that can happen to anyone, for that it is important to get more knowledge about that. It is more important learn how to reduce or eliminate “Burnout.” You should have to know what to do in case from burnout because you could end terrible with this problem. In this essay I learned a lot of burnout. Now I know what to do when I feel exhausted. I hope you learned like me or more theories to fix it in this essay.

This week I finished the book Recue 471 by Peter Canning. The final two sections are called “Memory” and “The job”. Although the ending is bittersweet, it ended on a high note.
In the chapter” Mr. and Mrs. Jones,” Peter and his partner respond to a call for a man who is drunk and his wife is just tired of the same. She just wants to be relaxed because she is very sick. She has asthma and high blood pressure. A significant idea in the chapter is on page 246, the author writes, “you white man. I’m naked and this is my own house.” This shows that the man is very angry and he does not want to go anywhere.
In the chapter “Asthma,” Peter and his partner Arthur respond to a call for a woman with difficulty breathing due to asthma. She is approximately thirty years old. She has panic in her eyes. He does not have air movement in her lungs. A significant idea in this chapter is on page 271, Peter says, “I did not want to lose you” This demonstrates that Peter really wants to save his patient and he is trying his best. Arthur is very concentrated helping Peter to save this woman.
In chapter “Ups and Downs,” Peter is talking to Rick Domina. For Peter he is the best medic in the company. They are sharing their opinions about burnout. A significant idea in this chapter is on page 277, Peter’s friend says, “When you start, the highs are really high, and the lows are very low.” This shows that Peter’s friend has a deep concept about burnout. He means that sometimes people feels burnout; if you try hard to control it, you will.
I enjoyed reading about the different scenes of this book because it was very interesting for me to read it. I would recommend this book to someone who is interested in medicine or someone who likes to read fabulous stories. I would like to learn more about this interesting book because I will read it again to understand the content more deeply.

According to the article” In Groups We Shrink” by Carol Tavris people will share their responsibility when they are in a group. This article is about different sources about how students act when they are in a group about their responsibilities. You will learn about different experiments in various causes that students act lazy and irresponsible relate with their obligations in class.
The first experiment in behavioral psychology shows that when student are not in a group they are more efficient that when form part of the group. For example the author writes, “Students who were on their own usually hesitated a minute… But the students who were sitting in groups of three did not move.” This demonstrates that the students who were alone might react faster than those who were in the group. Those students who were in the group they just blocked their minds by staying in the same place for six minutes without any movement.
The second experiment, psychologist established a situation about people who overheard a noise crash, a scream and a woman in pain with a broken ankle. According to the author the majority who were alone when the accident happened went to her aid, however only 40 percent of those who heard her from another student. This means that students who were alone were more able to react about the injure woman, compare to those that were in the group and just stayed like a statue. According to psychologists this is “diffusion of responsibility” or “social loafing.” They established, “The more people in a group, the lazier each individual in it becomes.” This means the bigger group will have the more irresponsible students. Students think that nothing needs to be done because someone else will do it.
In conclusion I agree with these psychologists that students react irresponsible about their responsibilities in class because have experience with some students that were my classmates in high school. I don’t like to work with lazy people, I hate it. Lazy people make me angry and sad. Angry because they don’t do their work and they think that we have to do their own work and sad because they cannot imagine the consequences they will have because when students don’t do their work they don’t learn anything because they are just concentrate in another things, such as, cellphone, music, texting, etc.

MCDONALD’S CREW MEMBER This profile is about a very sweet and fabulous girl whose name was Kysha Lewin. She was sixteen and a half. She was in tenth grade in Red Back Regional High School in Little Silver, New Jersey. When she was fifteen, she decided that she needed a job because her mother was the only one who paid the bills in the house. She went to McDonald’s and talked to the manager. They asked her different questions such as, does she communicate with people well? Does she like kids? They wanted her to do birthday parties for little kids. She loved kids, and she got the job. At first was difficult to her. She had to memories a lot things in her mind, and it took her two days to understand the process. When she didn’t have any customers, she had to help her partners. She explained that in this kind of job, you just have to be busy because it was a busy job. They had a lot of rules, but she felt comfortable. She had to wait to be sixteen to make fries because the employees cannot make them until they are sixteen and when she started in this job she was fifteen. She was upset because she was supposed to get a raise, however she never got it. She wanted to be out of the fast food business. She was a grateful person because she appreciated what she learned from this company.
Personality, I admire this girl because she was so sweet and very optimistic. I love the way that she treated her mother, helping her with the bills in the house. I think that we have a connection because as her I like to appreciate all the things in my life as she does. I like to give love to the world like she demonstrated in this chapter.

They asked her different questions such as, does she communicate with people well? Does she like kids? They wanted her to do birthday parties for little kids. She loved kids, and she got the job. At first was difficult to her. She had to memories a lot things in her mind, and it took her two days to understand the process. When she didn’t have any customers, she had to help her partners. She explained that in this kind of job, you just have to be busy because it was a busy job. They had a lot of rules, but she felt comfortable. She had to wait to be sixteen to make fries because the employees cannot make them until they are sixteen and when she started in this job she was fifteen. She was upset because she was supposed to get a raise, however she never got it. She wanted to be out of the fast food business. She was a grateful person because she appreciated what she learned from this company.
Personality, I admire this girl because she was so sweet and very optimistic. I love the way that she treated her mother, helping her with the bills in the house. I think that we have a connection because as her I like to appreciate all the things in my life as she does. I like to give love to the world like she demonstrated in this chapter.
